Highlight of the Semester

Once a semester I tend to write on here about what a moving, invigorating, emotional, and joyous experience it is to teach King Lear.  I hope I never tire of teaching this play.

  1. Bravo! A favorite of mine, too.

  2. I wish I could be there to hear you. I wish I had become wise before I had become old...

Did you see the recent PBS performance with Ian McKellan and Romola Garai? I thought parts of it were quite poignant.

  3. Just watched Lear in London and discussed it in my class. Unfortunately, we didn't get very in depth. How much does Shakespeare suck when all you we discuss is the vague, literal meaning the lines? It becomes so hollow!
